The beauty of the landscape and its rich history render Geroskipou a place of attraction for every visitor. Anyone visiting Geroskipou will be able to enjoy the tranquility of a small traditional community without being forced to be deprived of any of the services which a big city has to offer.
Physical Setting West Cyprus , the district of Paphos, occupies an area of 1395 sq km which constitutes about 15.1% of the total area of the Island . West Cyprus can be divided into three broad morphological regions:
- The coastal plain lying mainly below 200 metres
- The hilly area lying between the coastal plain and the higher mountains
- The mountainous inland region
The Municipality of Geroskipou lies mainly on the area of the coastal plain to the East of Paphos town and near to Paphos International Airport . The quality of the soil is generally very good and this allows a significant amount of horticulture to be carried out along the coastal plain. Inland, above the limestone bluff, there is also some horticulture practiced along with livestock farming with sheep, goat and chickens. A large area of Geroskipou is irrigated by water from the Asprokremmos dam, which encourages the cultivation of crops such as grapes, citrus, banana and vegetables.
Climate The coastal regions enjoy low rainfall which is almost negligible between May and October, however there is more rain inland during the winter months. It is rare, even in winter, for temperatures on the coast to dip below 12 degrees centigrade and in summer the temperatures from May onwards usually are in excess of 25 degrees. Inland, and in the mountains, temperatures are lower by several degrees. Touristic Development The Sport and athletic infrastructure has been promoted in Geroskipou. Today, football pitches, basketball courts and tennis courts are in operation in order to offer their services to the locals but also to the foreign visitors of the Village. There is also a new Olympic sized open-air swimming pool in the Municipality providing athletes with the most modern facilities in Europe.

The Hotel Industry within the Municipality is making important progress and development is being created in a manner sympathetic to the environment. Mass tourism is important to the Municipality of Geroskipou but that touristic development must be planned and must be sympathetic to the natural local environment. It is also important that this development be accompanied by the creation of an appropriate local infrastructure to support the increasing numbers of tourists. Wherever possible, local building materials are used and a programme of planting is set in motion to create a green environment both within and outside the hotel complex.
